Co-Polymers

A copolymer is a polymer derived from more than one species of monomer. The polymerization of monomers into copolymers is called copolymerization. Copolymers obtained by copolymerization of two monomer species are sometimes called bipolymers.

A copolymer is a polymer formed when two (or more) different types of monomers are linked in the same polymer chain, as opposed to a homopolymer where only one monomer is used.

Now, we discuss the use and roll of copolymers in BOPP film manufacturing.
Basically copolymers are used in sealable film.
Heat Sealable Films are Multi – layered films that comprises of an outer coating which prevents it from melting the core of the film and damaging it.
Heat sealable films are sealable to itself and not peelable. These are suitable e.g. for food packaging and roasting bags.

Some common copolymers used in BOPP films manufacturing.

1) Adsyl 3c30f -

Adsyl 3 C 30 F HP is an advanced polyolefin, specially designed for use as a sealing or metallized layer in co-extruded film applications. This grade features a low seal initiation temperature, a high melting point and good optics. It does not contain slip or anti-block additives.
it has lower SIT which is 112°C
